Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-08-26

ReturnCheck (the "Service") is run on the principle of not collecting personal information. This policy sets out what the Service processes and what it does not.

1. Accounts and personal information

The Service has no sign-up. It does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other information that identifies you, and it does not store any such information.

2. Test data stays on your device

The dead pixel, keyboard, webcam, microphone, speaker, mouse, refresh rate, and touch tests all run inside your browser.

  • Camera video is only shown on your screen. It is never uploaded or stored.
  • Microphone audio is used only to display the input level. It is never recorded or transmitted.
  • Key presses are used only to show which key was pressed on screen. They are never transmitted.
  • Touch and pointer coordinates are used only to draw where you touched. They are never transmitted.

Using the camera and microphone requires your browser's permission. You can withdraw that permission at any time in your browser settings, and declining it leaves the rest of the Service fully usable.

3. Test results are not stored

Results appear only on the screen where you run the check and are not saved anywhere — not on a server, and not in browser storage such as LocalStorage or cookies. Reloading the page or leaving it clears them. If you need a record, write down what the screen shows.

4. Visitor statistics

GoatCounter is used to collect visitor statistics. It is a cookieless tool that does not identify individuals. It aggregates the page address visited, the referring source, browser and operating system type, screen size, language, and country-level location.

IP addresses are not stored. They are briefly hashed with a value that changes every day, solely to count same-day repeat visits, and the hash is discarded once the day ends — visitors cannot be tracked across days. Statistics tool: GoatCounter (goatcounter.com).

5. Advertising (Google AdSense)

The Service intends to cover its running costs through advertising. Once ads are served, the following applies.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising inGoogle Ads Settings.
  • Visitors in regions where consent is required, such as the EU and the UK, are asked separately for cookie consent through Google's consent management tool (Funding Choices).

While no ads are being served, none of the cookies above are used either.

6. Sharing with third parties

Because the Service does not collect personal information, there is no personal information to share with third parties. The statistics and advertising providers in sections 4 and 5 process information under their own policies.

7. Your rights

The Service keeps no data about you, so there is nothing to request access to, correct, or delete. For anything else, write tocontact@returncheck.net.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the change and its effective date will be posted on this page. Changes that add new categories of collected data will be announced before they take effect.
