  Do I need to install anything?

  No. Opening the page is the whole setup — there is no app, no extension, and no download. Every test runs as ordinary web code inside the browser you are already using.

  Does my camera or microphone data leave my device?

  No. The webcam preview and the microphone level meter are rendered in your browser and never sent anywhere. There is no server that receives them, so there is nothing to delete afterwards.

  Do I need an account?

  No. ReturnCheck does not have sign-up, login, or user profiles. Nothing you do here is tied to an identity.

  Which browsers work?

  Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox. The webcam and microphone tests also need a secure (HTTPS) connection and your permission, which the browser asks for the first time you start them.

  What can I actually test here?

  Dead pixels, keyboard keys, webcam, microphone, speakers, and mouse buttons on a laptop or desktop, plus monitor refresh rate and touchscreen response for other devices. The full check runs those six back to back.

  What can a browser not check?

  Battery health, storage wear, thermals, hinge and chassis condition, and anything that needs the machine to be taken apart. A web page has no access to those sensors, so we do not pretend to judge them. The guides explain how to check each one on your own machine instead.

  A test says something is wrong. Can I return the device?

  That is decided by the seller or the manufacturer under their own warranty terms, not by this site. What a test gives you is evidence you can point at. A photo or screen recording of the failing test, taken while the return window is still open, is far more persuasive than a description.

  I denied camera or microphone permission by mistake.

  Click the permission icon in your browser address bar, set camera or microphone back to Allow, and reload the page. The test will ask again the next time you start it.

  Does this work on a phone or tablet?

  Dead pixel, webcam, microphone, speaker, and touch tests work on a phone or tablet. The keyboard and mouse tests assume a physical keyboard and pointer, so they are meant for a laptop or desktop.

  Are my results saved?

  No. Results live in the page while you are looking at them and disappear on reload. If you want to keep them, take a screenshot or a screen recording before you leave.

  Does it cost anything?

  No. Every test on this site is free to use and there is no paid tier.
